Thank you for joining the Department of Technology for our 87th Annual Technology Fall Conference. I’d like to start by recognizing the loss of two long-standing faculty members that have passed away in the last six months. The first, who passed away in March, was Judith W. Belt, Emeritus Faculty Member. Most recently, in August, we suddenly lost Dr. Mark R. Springston. Their impact on the Department’s current students and alumni will last for generations. Thank you to everyone who reached out to offer condolences and support. We appreciate your thoughts and actions as we mourn these losses.
As we look to this year’s conference program, we hope you will be able to reconnect with friends, faculty, the campus, and the Oswego community.
2026 is the 140th Anniversary of the founding of our degree program.
For the fourth year, the department was recognized by ITEEA as a STEM School of Excellence and our online Master’s Program continues to grow. Our incoming undergraduate numbers are up slightly from last year to 36 students.
I would like to give a shout out to the department’s graduate assistant, Andrew Anderson, for all he does in so many ways to support our students and faculty. He is completing the 4 + 1 program and will graduate Oswego with his Master’s Degree in May to then begin his teaching career.
We’d also like to give a special shout out to our commercial exhibitors located in the connector between Wilber and Shineman. Our exhibitors continue to be an integral part of making this conference possible. We appreciate their continued dedication to and participation in our annual conference. We encourage you to visit their booths!
The faculty thanks you for inspiring your students to consider Oswego and teaching or technology management as a career path. Please keep talking us up as a career choice. You are our connection to the next generation of teachers and managers. Let us know how we can connect in person or virtually with you and your students to explore the opportunities that SUNY Oswego has to offer. Reach out to me at 315-312-3990 or richard.bush@oswego.edu.
Beyond the Department, please encourage any college bound student to consider enrolling at SUNY Oswego for the many other excellent degree programs that we offer. Our enrollment this fall is around 6,200 students. Ten years ago, our enrollment stood at around 8,000. For many of us, SUNY Oswego holds a special place in our hearts. Please share your love of Oswego with others to encourage them to join us in all that SUNY Oswego has to offer.
Enjoy the marvelous conference we have planned for you. We appreciate your attendance!
Mark your calendar for next year’s 88th Annual Technology Fall Conference on October 28-29, 2027.
